The adoption of technologies such as as IoT, Computer Vision, Hybrid Cloud and Machine Learning aims to not only increase the satisfaction of final customers, but also of distributors, partners, and above all, producers. Increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the production process benefits the entire industrial system. In addition, the increased availability of new technologies, combined with socio-economic changes, leads to the redefinition of human roles within Industry 4.0. However, there are structural and cultural limitations, such as the lack of infrastructure or dedicated teams in the company that limit the potential of digital manufacturing solutions.

VISION

VISION

At Konica Minolta, our Global R&D division is striving to define an approach that will reduce the infrastructural gap, whilst supporting workflow through intelligent augmentation in existing platforms. Throughout Industry 4.0, we will continue to focus on ergonomics, ultimately aiming to provide data driven support and assistive services within manufacturing processes.
We have orchestrated Advanced Data Analytics and Computer Visions, Distributed Robotics, Semantics, IT and Machine Learning, Data Centric Solutions, and the Internet of Things to create a network of enhanced cyber physical systems.

Adopting these new technologies promises improved perception, as well as planning capabilities of distributed intelligent agents to create new value in the manufacturing industry. This will have a significant impact on manufacturing challenges involving supply chain, safety, and facility and asset management, as enhanced decision support systems will now be readily available.
Transforming the manufacturing industry with IoT will also enable an approach to the product as a service, wherein there will be the possibility to upsell additional solutions.
Adopting IoT with Konica Minolta will help you grow profits, reduce costs, and considerably reduce the number of workplace accidents.

CLOUD EDGE: OPTIMAL ORCHESTRATION
OF INTELLIGENCE IN A
HYPERCONNECTED ERA

The Edge computing paradigm is a solution that changes the current cloud-centric design. As an alternative to processing all of the data in the cloud core, it advocates dedicated hardware and software technologies to relocate application elements to the edge of a network closer to users’ premises. Within the development of Konica Minolta’s Cognitive Hub, a platform of Artificial Intelligence (AI) services for the Workplace of the Future, our laboratories are devising an edge computing solution called LightEdge that will constitute the backbone of the system architecture.

THE HUMAN FACTOR
IN DIGITAL MANUFACTURING

The increased complexity of the manufacturing sector, in combination with the introduction of advanced technologies, such as Internet of Things, Robotics, and Artificial Intelligence, defines what is known as Digital Manufacturing.
