Overview
The AccurioPress C14010S is a digital printing system developed as the successor model to the AccurioPress C14000, with the aim of achieving both stable print quality and improved on-site operational efficiency. To address a wide range of production requirements, we developed diverse automation technologies, including the IM-104/105, which automatically identifies media type, thickness, and surface characteristics; the IQ-601, which performs real-time image position adjustment and color correction; and the AI-101, which automatically ejects defective prints. In addition, by installing a high-opacity white toner, the system enables vivid printing even on media that were previously difficult to print on, such as black paper, thereby supporting a wide range of applications, including packaging and point-of-purchase (POP) materials. High productivity is maintained even in five-color printing (including white toner), achieving 120 ppm in A4 simplex printing. Furthermore, optimization of the overall printing process enables stable quality regardless of media conditions and the operating environment.

Details
■Configuration
The IM-104/105 unit can automatically identify seven media attributes, including media type, thickness, and surface characteristics. In addition, it automatically proposes optimal machine settings. It recognizes media on the transport path and simplifies adjustment work (Fig. 1-1). By combining detailed detection of media characteristics using seven sensors with a machine-learning algorithm that leverages market data, the unit suppresses issues such as initial setup workload, paper jams, and fluctuations in output quality, thereby supporting stable operation (Fig. 1-2).

The IQ-601 automatically compares scanned images of printed output with the reference “proof” image and corrects image position and color deviations in real time. In the IQ-601, an inline, in-house spectrophotometer allows the system to read all color-measurement patches (Fig. 2). To achieve this, the system detects and corrects media lateral deviation and skew, realizing high-accuracy color measurement and stabilized color quality.
Furthermore, the AI-101 achieves high-speed, high-accuracy inspection through direct comparison with original document data. When an anomaly is detected, defective prints are automatically identified and recovery printing is performed, thereby minimizing downtime (Fig. 3).

■Functions / Features / Applications
To maximize the high opacity of white toner, we leveraged pigment formulation and particle-design technologies with a proven track record in the AccurioLabel 400 and optimized the printing process on the AccurioPress C14010S engine. As a result, stable color reproduction is achieved across diverse media because prints are less susceptible to the influence of underlying substrate color. In addition, to further improve opacity, a control technology was introduced to optimize fusing pressure for each media type, thereby maintaining stable image quality and productivity (Fig. 4).

As one approach to quality stabilization, we addressed transfer misregistration during thick-paper transport. By installing a variable fusing entrance guide that automatically optimizes the media entry angle, image quality is stabilized even during thick-paper printing (Fig. 5).

■Future outlook
The AccurioPress C14010S series will continue to evolve through further automation and quality-stabilization technologies to meet increasingly diverse needs at commercial printing sites. We will pursue ongoing technology development that contributes to both customer expressiveness and productivity, including expanded support for diverse media and implementation of optimal control through utilization of operational data.
